Does anyone here take Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido (Ki Aikido)? What are the benefits, from experience?

I%26#039;m interested in taking up Ki Aikido because of its focus on centered principles, but am wondering whether or not it would benefit me in a real, combat situation.|||You would be learning all of the techniques shown in other Aikido schools.Aikido techniques generally are designed to work no matter how strong or weak you are. You will develop agility, balance, speed and will learn how to fall, roll, pens, joint locks, joint breaks, submit an opponent, throw, escape a grip, block blows, chokes, etc... So you are learning some very useful things. I have taken two styles of Aikido they were Tomiki @ Shinbu Shinbu is more effective than Tomiki in many ways one is smaller circular movments with the feet and hands.|||You would be learning all of the techniques shown in other Aikido schools. The difference is you%26#039;ll also be learning about some rather counter-intuitive concepts. Aikido is an internal martial art. So not everything is obvious from watching people practice. The main difference is harder schools tend to teach you how to do things with power, and expect you to learn the subtlety of the art as you move along. Ki aikido teaches you about the internal aspect of the art from the get-go.

In my opinion, the main advantage of the softer method is that you practice the entirety of the art from the start - it%26#039;s spiritual aspect as well as the less obvious physical ones. So you learn from the basics up, truly learning to master the basics before moving on. The main disadvantage is that it may take you longer to be able to apply what you learn, because you are taught in such a way where you have to develop the more difficult concepts first, and that takes a while to be able to apply.|||The main concept of 合気道 is to built self spirit and nothing more than that (especially not techniques! or combat! WRONG MIND); there are plenty of reasons why 合気道 train in the way of martial art but most of them is for health and self loving as well as loving other thru the concept of harmony (my saying in this modern era : “truthful” social :P). In order for you to understand why they are so many 合気道 schools, I suggest you should do some research on the history. I recommend http://www.aikidofaq.com which would be sufficient help. From the studies of history, you%26#039;ll also get to know what 合気道 really is and if you%26#039;re a true 合気道 practitioner, you%26#039;ll never be in a combat situation. The more you learn and practice, the more unknown you are to 合気道, and the more combat stay away from you! To answer your question, “whenever I move, that’s 合気道” – Morehei Ueshiba Osensei. I hope you get what you want to know.
