Does anyone know how to learn aikido ?

i want to learn aikido and i dont have time to go to club so if anyone know any web site can provide me some clips to teach me how to play it , please its very important , thanks|||Unfortunately for you, Aikido, and any other martial art, requires a substantial time commitment, and is not a form of play. If, as you say, it is %26quot;very important%26quot; to you, you should be willing to study under a qualified teacher and put in the necessary time.|||I do not think as most here do. I do believe that you can learn from other sources rather than personal ones. However, to really learn it will benifit you to get some %26quot;traditional%26quot; dojo type classes first. After you have a really good base then you can, in my view, learn from sources like video. It can happen but is harder and longer to obtain without help. I have trained for years in Aikido. After my first three I began doing outside training from video, which weather it helps others or not it did help me. I did however have several years with a trained instructor. I can%26#039;t say that it%26#039;ll help much but I have about 15 or so dvd on Aikido. If your intrested contact me at : cagedraptor@yahoo.com I will be more than willing to share what I have. I do however suggest that you train with others for a while, just to get the basics down, if nothing else.|||Speaking as an Aikido guy, I%26#039;m sorry to inform you that you can%26#039;t learn Aikido by yourself. It%26#039;s dependant upon a paired-partner training relationship. Since it%26#039;s all about timing, joint locks and the such...you can%26#039;t do that by yourself.

However, there are solo training exercises, but they%26#039;re meant only as a suppliment to real training. They%26#039;re called %26quot;kihon dosa%26quot; or %26quot;aiki taiso.%26quot; They only teach basic movements, and not techniques.

Sorry!|||Sorry. Don%26#039;t even bother.

Striking arts you may learn some limited techniques that way (basic punching and kicking) and learn them very imperfectly yet. (i.e. you can look like you know what you%26#039;re doing)

But a throwing and grappling art? Without a partner? Don%26#039;t even waste your time.|||You will find training without a trainer to be completely ineffective. You might THINK you are learning from a free source, but there are too many subtleties in aikido that you won%26#039;t pick up on a tape.

You won%26#039;t get good tips on maintaining coordination of mind and body from a tape. Nor will you get the crucial dip from one point or any of the other super crucial details/\

The guy above me is right, aikido contains a large number of throws and pins that MUST be practiced on another person in aikido. You may hurt a non-aikido practitioner very severly if you practiced on someone

Just go to a dojo|||Two things..

One.. AIkido requires someone to practice with. The majority of the techniques have to do with timing and fluid movement. Something that YOU CANNOT learn sby yourself.

Two.. If you dont%26#039; have time to go somewhere to be TAUGHT Aikido... then you also don%26#039;t have the time to learn it. It takes time and dedication.. in your living room, or under a watchful eye.. same amount of time.|||If you%26#039;re not learning from a trainer, then you%26#039;re not really learning anything. An instructor can tell you what you%26#039;re doing right or wrong, a video or a website can%26#039;t interact with the student. It%26#039;s the same as learning guitar or anything else on line or on video, it%26#039;s just not a good substitute for a teacher student relationship. And you%26#039;re really not going to get anything good for free, cheapass. If this is really all that important, then you%26#039;d pay for a teacher and find time. You lack dedication and discipline.|||Thanks for the insult to the rest of us who spent years learning our Arts, when according to you we could have simply gone to a website if we had only been as smart as you.

Go play your video games.|||You can%26#039;t learn Aikido from a book of video. If you are interested find time. Private lessons may be available to fit your schedule
