Why do aikido masters participate so often in fraud?

Why do we so often see aikido %26quot;masters%26quot; such as Segal or %26quot;Tohei%26quot; participating in scams and fraud? Tohei was a big proponent of %26quot;ki%26quot; and all of the nonesense that went along with it. Of course, it was never demo%26#039;d on anyone except one of his brainwashed students (check youtube.com for examples). Why are people so convinced that fantasy is real and aikido is useful in a fight? Who else knows it for the fraud it is?|||Aikido is only useful against Aikido.

Segal movies are choreography in motion.

fraud is selling it as something it isnt, like a viable self defense.

it is an amazing art, but art is all it is. it does not allow for reality. it does not train you for the adrenaline of conflict.

I tried it for 4 months, after having a history in Kempo and Muay Thai, and as my experience in CQC was forming. I found Aikido to be useless to me, because I could achieve so much more through more aggressive means, that I could not see the point in devoting years to something that Muay Thai (for example) can teach you in under 6 months. it takes longer to get great at MT than just 6, but you know what needs to be done, while Aikido will take years to get any proficiency.

why take the long way.

if you havent done it at all, stop believing the importance of it. the movies are not enough resume to be holding it up like it is the ultimate. jazz ballet is a nice art form too.

it is peaceful, and good. but not against others. but this is only my experience.|||an your a qualified master in aikido thats how you know it%26#039;s a fraud?right?i think you need to work out the difference between fantasy and reality.try removing your hand from your penis wouldn%26#039;t be a bad idea either.|||Mate I think you need to fight an Aikido master, you ill find that having you arm broken means no fraud involved.|||People seem to have a general misunderstanding of soft form martial arts. Not everyone is out there to step in the the octagon and %26quot;get it on%26quot;. Some of us practice arts for the art, and martial aspect that they bring with them. Now I don%26#039;t believe in that Chi stuff, and I have been in martial arts for near 14 years now. I think thats something that is for certain groups and not for others.

Does this mean that I think that Aikido is garbage? By all means NO. Each art has something to bring to the table, whether its the hard hitting MT guys, the boa constricting JJ guys or the fluid aikido masters. Don%26#039;t limit yourself to one thinking... often we become defeated as that happens. Instead, try to have respect for subtle differences between the arts. I don%26#039;t agree with making money off that 5 ft knock out crap either. But that doesn%26#039;t mean that all of Aikido is crap just because there is an idiot out there that got a hold of a camera.|||To first answer, give me a name so I can test your theory out please.|||What you need to understand is that all styles of martial arts have their share of frauds in them. You should not judge Aikido to be weak because you have seen some frauds. Aikido has alot of painful joint locks|||I don%26#039;t know you have to ask the particular master.

just because the person pushing an idea that is a fraud, doesn%26#039;t mean that they don%26#039;t have something legit to offer that has nothing to do with that. However it certainly does color thier reputation and should raise a red flag.

While many people do question the very art of aikido%26#039;s effectiveness, I%26#039;m sure that somewhere out there there is an aikido school and teacher that does train hard. Training hard does not mean your goal is to fight in MMA events like pride or the ufc. However people use the ufc and pride as a yardstick for a hard level of training as those that don%26#039;t train hard WON%26#039;T get in.

That doesn%26#039;t mean that if you don%26#039;t do the %26quot;cage%26quot; or %26quot;octagon%26quot; or pride that you don%26#039;t train hard.

However this chi bunk might be bull, but masters might enter into it to market for more money.

Look at Dillman, one of the biggest frauds around, debunked on national geographic and done in by his toe and tounge placement.

However I have heard that prior to his chi scams and %26quot;pressure point%26quot; focus, dillman was a legit martial artist.

simply put, a legit %26quot;master%26quot; with something to offer, could simply start selling crap because it is a cash cow.

wouldn%26#039;t you sell the brooklyn bridge to some ignorant boob if you could get away with it?

(for some reason, selling a bridge that doesn%26#039;t belong to you is illegal, but selling false knowledge is not)|||It didn%26#039;t fair well against the other Japanese systems in the UFC. The only Aikido guy I seen got slaughtered on the ground.

It does however have some great leverages that can be added to a fighters toolbox. I have seen some wrist leverages that are awesome, and easy to apply. As with all arts , just part of a tool box.

You will find some holes in some systems, and many in others.

This system has a hole in that it places to much on a stand up fight, nothing on the ground, and that deflection or redirection will always work.

Could you see Segal against Tito , wahaha now thats funny
