Is using Aikido a good way to defend your self in a street fight?

Knowing any self defense is, of course, a good way to defend yourself in a street fight. However, since most fights end up on the ground, you might want to look into jiu jitsu (jujitsu). I take Gracie Barra Jiu-Jitsu, and it%26#039;s awesome. Yes, there are other practical self defense styles. Take a look on this MMA specific search engine. You should be able to find out anything and everything about any martial arts / fighting styles you want to learn about. Good luck!

Zach|||Yes and no. If you want an art that will teach you some quick self defense you can use on your way home from class, take tae kwon do. If you are willing to dedicate yourself to Aikido, and reshape your mind and body to it, then it will work just fine. It%26#039;s not an over night process. Second, Aikido is a philosophy first, a martial art second. My sensei taught us with Wing Chun and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under the Aikido thought.
