What is the better way to loose weight? Martial arts (example: Aikido), or going to the gym?

Martial arts, although not usually aerobic, will build muscle and raise your metabolism. In addition, you will not want to carry those extra pounds around during class! Although aerobic exercises such as running and biking are generally considered better for losing weight, martial arts are more interesting and sticking with it is the most important thing. In addition, you will get group support and spiritual growth which will also help you lose weight.|||Both can help you lose weight equally well depending on what you do in the dojang or in the gym. Martial Arts can transform your body depending on how you train. Krav Maga and Tae Kwon Do are very good for that. You have to have an effective training routine when you workout at the gym.|||The way is not in the exterior. It%26#039;s in the interior in your mental state. If weight loss is desired, change in the way you think about eating, drinking, doing activities and how you live out your life is desired.|||cardio, walking running both do the same thing. burn the fat before you tone up. eat lots of veggies and fruits.|||Swimming

Freestyle: 500 cal/hr

Backstroke: 500 cal/hr

Breaststroke: 600 cal/hr

Butterfly: 600 cal/hr

Swimming is one of the best things you can do. Cardio, Aerobic, and low impact on your body. My favorite thing is to swim laps for a hour or two.

Reduce your caloric intake to between 1200-1700 a day. Drink lots and lots of water! You should drink between 4 and 6 32oz bottles of water a day.

1) Kidneys are unable to function without water. WHen they do not work to capacity some of their load is dumped onto the liver. This divers the liver from its primary function, which is to metabolize stored fat into usable energy.

2) Overeating can be averted through water intake, as water can keep the stomach feeling full and satisfied between meals.

3) Ice-cold water requires calories to warm it to core body temperature.|||Expend more calories any way you want, than you take in. Simple math.

For toning; Swimming, running, TaeBo, Kickboxing, all work the total body, are fun, and burn alot of calories.

Mix it up and have fun.|||A combination of diet and aerobic exercise.|||MArtial arts with an evaluation of what you eat is probably the best, the martial arts will teach you discipline and will help change your mind set and lifestyle slightly enough. Weight loss is more about lifestyle change than fad dieting. Going to the gym helps, but there is little motivation to keep up a change in lifestyle.|||I would have to say the gym. Lots of cardio combined with a few weights and of course an eating plan. I think martial arts are more of a strength builder so would be good for toning muscle but wouldn%26#039;t be as effective as cardio for losing weight :)|||a combination of both is neccesary. some types of martial arts are a great workout like brazilian jiu-jitsu. Martial arts are good becasue they can be fun and break you fromthe monotony of the gym where u are always doing the same exercises again and again.
